A partnership between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) was established in 2005 to advance water governance in thematic areas such as water supply and sanitation, integrated water resources management, transboundary waters, climate change adaptation, integrity, gender and human rights.
The main purpose of the partnership – The Water Governance Facility (WGF) – is to support low and middle-income countries in their water reform by providing policy and technical advice and support, developing water governance knowledge and helping to develop institutional capacity.
